Elyse Oliver is a senior in the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences where her studies in International Relations and Sociology help her begin to address the complex urban challenges facing many cities today. Since high school, Elyse has been involved in numerous community development initiatives with her hometown’s Main Street program, mayoral-appointed Vision 2020 committee, and as founder TEDxYouth@Biddeford. Most recently, Elyse completed an internship at the Southeast Community Development Corporation, where she worked with local business owners to develop pop-up summer events in Highlandtown. Her senior thesis looks at resident displacement in East Baltimore and discusses viable alternatives to resident relocation. Elyse is looking forward to solidifying partnerships with Oldtown community groups for next year.
